Dr. Mehmet Oz has been announced as a guest host of “Jeopardy!” Several guest hosts were announced this week, including Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta. The game show revealed the news on Tuesday.
Last month “Jeopardy!” announced that veteran journalist Katie Couric, “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, NFL great Aaron Rodgers, and actress Mayim Bialik will be filling Alex Trebek’s role following his death last year. What stands out about the season is that, as part of the celebrity guest hosts’ appearances, a donation will be made to a charity of their choice. The amount donated will equal the cumulative winnings of the contestants that compete during the weeks they serve as guest host.
“We look forward to each guest host bringing their unique abilities to the show and to our contestants winning a lot of money that we can match for charity,” said “Jeopardy!” Executive Producer Mike Richards.
Last year “Jeopardy!” announced that it would be welcoming several celebrity guests to host the show until a permanent replacement is found for Trebek, who died on Nov. 8 at age 80 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Ken Jennings, the all-time champion, is serving as the first guest and will be filling the role for six weeks, according to USA Today. He made his debut shortly after Trebek’s final episode, which was taped on Oct. 29, aired in January.Related Stories:
