COVID COMMUNITY UPDATE: ‘STABILIZATION’ DOESN’T MEAN MEAN WE’RE IN THE CLEAR – BUCKRAIL – JACKSON HOLE, NEWSJuddGrossman9 May10 to 14 weeks is too long to be in this phase. We need to be more aggressive in opening back up. Our tourism is going to be way down, and so will restaurants and bars until more people feel comfortable, so this summer will be like a phased opening anyway because of the way people are self-regulating. The government needs to quit pretending that people don’t need to work. We have the hospital capacity, so it’s time to ramp things up while monitoring it closely.

HEALTH DEPARTMENT UNVEILS CONTACT TRACING APP – BUCKRAIL – JACKSON HOLE, NEWSAnderson202028 JunI’m courious if this app is compatable with the Covid Safe Paths App (the App that came out of MIT) that was Teton Countys first choice and was introduced a while back? I think i even got the link here on Buckrail.

PROTESTERS GATHER AT TOWN SQUARE FOLLOWING POLICE BRUTALITY PROTESTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY – BUCKRAIL – JACKSON HOLE, NEWSJuddGrossman1 JunIt’s still not clear to me why a protest is necessary on this particular issue. It seems like everybody agrees that the video of what happened to George Floyd looks terrible and unjust, and that the justice system in Minnesota is handling it appropriately and expeditiously. Are there people who disagree? I also don’t see the racial component. I just see an apparently brutal cop killing someone unnecessarily. Maybe we will find out more info about the cops who were involved, and that they had a history of targeting black people, but I haven’t seen evidence of that yet. Though I am concerned that this cop had a history of complaints against him and that he was inappropriately protected from being fired.

LOCAL BUSINESSES BEAR THE BRUNT OF COVID SAFETY ENFORCEMENT, AND RESISTANCE – BUCKRAIL – JACKSON HOLE, NEWSJillis26 JunLOVE the point discrediting the belief of people who say wearing a mask violates their rights when in reality NOT wearing masks causes the government to have to exert their control and shut businesses down! So smart and logical!

FOREST CAMPING GETS A FACE LIFT IN BUFFALO VALLEY – BUCKRAIL – JACKSON HOLE, NEWSHarr15425 JunI’m very glad that they improved sites rather than just eliminating sites. I’m a big wilderness guy, but I really hated what they did to shadow mountain. they made the crowding problem far worse by eliminating dozens of potential campsites. we are very lucky that the bridger teton has so many fewer roads than many other forest districts in UT, CO, CA, etc., and I felt like the resource impacts to shadow mountain were not particularly devastating to the ecosystem as a whole. sure, it was hard to get a site if you showed up too late on a weekend even a few years ago, but now it’s almost impossible with the designated campsite system.

LET’S GO, LET’S SHOW, LET’S RODEO! – BUCKRAIL – JACKSON HOLE, NEWSPeggy W. Larson15 JunAs a former bareback bronc rider, pathologist and large animal veterinarian, I have experience and proof that rodeo injures and kills animals. Dr. Robert Bay from Colorado autopsied roping calves and found hemorrhages, torn muscles, torn ligaments, damage to the trachea, damage to the throat and damage to the thyroid. These calves never get a chance to heal before they are used again. Meat inspectors processing rodeo animals found broken bones, ruptured internal organs, massive amounts of blood in the abdomen from ruptured blood vessels and damage to the ligamentum nuchae that holds the neck to the rest of the spinal column. As a criminal lawyer, children that are exposed to and participate in animal abuse often grow up to abuse humans. I have seen children cry at rodeos when the calves are roped and slammed to the ground. It is time for this archaic rodeoentertainmentto end.
