Swift Transportation Truckers Get $14 Million Wage Deal Approved
- Truckers sued for training-time pay under FLSA
- Judge cuts attorneys’ fees from 33% to 25% of total
A $14 million settlement between Swift Transportation Co. and a Fair Labor Standards Act collective of more than 9,500 truckers who sued over training-time pay received approval Wednesday, after a federal judge in Arizona cut the requested attorneys’ fees.
Counsel asked for attorneys’ fees totaling roughly $4.6 million, but their requested hourly rates are excessively high and inconsistent with rates in the Phoenix market, Judge Roslyn O. Silver of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona said. She reduced the fee award to roughly $3.5 million, or 25% of the total, and approved roughly $308,000 for litigation costs….To read the full article log in.
